Artist: Robert Mach
Robert Mach is a widely-known Scottish artist, who transforms everyday objects with foil sweet and cake wrappers. His favourite wrappers to use are from Tunnock’s tea cakes. Robert used to have to eat lots of teacakes to cover his sculptures, but these days Tunnock’s give him sheets of wrapping to work with instead. Robert’s work has featured at London’s Royal Academy and Royal Scottish Academy and he has exhibited widely in the UK and internationally. In addition to his solo work, Robert often joins forces with other artists, including his brother David Mach who has created his own Swindog and Swinpup sculpture for The Big Dog Art Trail.
The Tunnock Limited, commonly known as Tunnock’s, is a family run bakery based in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, Scotland. The company was formed by Thomas Tunnock as Tunnock’s in 1980 and is famous for its Caramel Wafers and Teacakes. Tunnock’s are very proud to support Swindon’s Big Dog Art Trail to raise much needed funding for Julia’s House.
After the trail finishes the Swindogs will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Julia’s House, your local children’s hospice charity. If you have sponsored a uniquely designed and decorated big balloon dog sculpture this will be your chance to adopt your Swindog. Then it can go to its forever home where it can be enjoyed for many years to come!Find out more
